On different kind of game auctions we were able to buy game:

Giraffe King "George"

- probably the most famous giraffe in Germany.
King George has been at home on our Familodge since August 2015.
He is about 6 years old, a young bull and comes from the neighboring Amakhala Private Game Reserve.
Actually, he was supposed to have a female society right from the beginning - unfortunately there were a lot of problems with the seller, so he had to wait almost a full year for company!
We were all very sorry! But since June 2016 he has been accompanied

by two female giraffes. Since then he is also much more balanced.

Queen "Elizabeth" & Victoria

The two giraffes arrived in june 2016.

Queen Elizabeth is pregnant and were are expecting a baby giraffe in the next few months.

Here are some facts about giraffes:
ize: 4m to 6m;

Weight: 800 kg and 1600 kg

Speed: up to 55 km / h

Food: acacia species (Sweet Thorn here)

Gestation period: 14-15 months, only one calf is born!

Besonderheiten: nur 7 Halswirbel

Other game on our farm

Zebras

In September 2015 we have bought 8 zebras from the Amakhala Private Game Reserve.
In December 2015 another 4 zebras were born at our farm.

Of course that was an absolute stroke of luck for us!

Now we expect more descendants this year. We are curious!
A few facts: Plains Zebra
Size: 1.1 to 1.6 meters; Length up to 3m

Weight: 170 kg to 350 kg
Food: grass and leaves

Kudus

We have always have seen a lot of male kudus on our farm.

But not that many female ones.
So we decided to buy 4 female kudus on a auction.

Here are some facts: Antelope,

Length: about 2m-2.5m

Size: School height 120cm to 160cm

Weight: 160kg to 350kg

Food: Young branches

Wasserböcke

4 Waterbucks we bought also from the Amakhala Private Game Reserve

3 females and 1 male.
On our farm a few baby waterbucks were born.

Here are a few facts: Antelope

Shoulder height: 130cm,

length: 190cm to 220cm, not up to 270kg;

Food: grasses and young branches

Nyalas

Nyalas are very tame and often stay close to people.

Here are some facts:

Length: approx. 140 cm Shoulder

height: approx. 110 cm

Weight: 55 kg to 125 kg

Food: grasses, herbs & fresh branches

Impalas

Oh, these are such beautiful animals!

And they do not belong to us.

Our guest Dorly from Switzerland has bought themher. She always found Impalas so beautiful and does not have the opportunity in Switzerland to hold own impalas. So she came up with the idea to buy impala and let it run on our property. A great idea!! Blessbock

At another wild animal auction in 2016

we were able to bid for Blessbock.

Here are some facts:

Shoulder height: 90cm,

weight: 60kg to 90kg

Strauße

We were able to buy a total of 4 ostriches from a neighbor:

2 females and 2 males.

Here are some facts:

Size: 170 cm to 250 cm

Weight: 90 kg to 130 kg Special

features: males have a black plumage, females have a brown plumage

Food: grasses, herbs, seeds, insects

Propagation: The female lays eight to twelve eggs. The eggs are about 1.9 kg heavy and have a diameter of about 15 cm (about 24 chicken eggs), the egg shell is about 2-3 mm thick
